Portrait of the Ninja as a Young ArtistHojojitsu
is often described as "the quiet type, who generally keeps to himself".
Despite the axe murderer profile, he has so far managed to limit any
antisocial inclinations to his artwork. When he is not creating erotic
art, Hojojitsu slinks about the suburbs of a great metropolitan city in
his mild mannered alter ego as a software engineer.
Hojojitsu took time out of his busy schedule tormenting digital damsels to answer a few questions. Q. Why did you choose a name like Hojojitsu anyway? A. Hojojitsu is actually the name of an obscure martial art. It means "cord tying art" and it involved methods of tying up vanquished opponents. Since some of my earliest interests included bondage and martial arts, it seemed a natural choice. Q. How long have you been creating digital art? A. It started shortly after I got an Internet capable computer in the mid-1990's. I started out doing photo manipulations, but I was always limited by the fact that I had to hunt down other people's photographs to manipulate. I bought Poser in 2002 and have been hooked ever since. Q. Do you have any art training? A. No, it's strictly on-the-job training. I was born with the unfortunate affliction of not being able to draw anything more complex than a stick figure. Poser and Photoshop allow me to make up for my lack of artistic talent in traditional media. I also read online tutorials and practice, practice, practice. Q. Does that mean anybody can do this? A. The programs are powerful tools, but it still takes a lot of patience and trial and error. I remember when I first got started, I read a tutorial that said something like "you can't just buy Poser and expect erotic art to fall out the other end". That's still true. One of the reasons I started was that I looked at some Poser galleries and thinking that I could do a better job. I'm better than some, but there are still artists out there that I'm not worthy to empty their trash. That's what keeps me going. |
